New digital content authoring platform from VitalSource simplifies digital publishing

Nashville, Tenn. – May 10, 2016 – VitalSource, part of Ingram Content Group, is simplifying digital publishing for educators, academic publishers and corporate training professionals with the introduction of VitalSource Content Studio (VCS). The digital content authoring platform is designed to enhance the learning experience and improve outcomes with original, customizable content that is managed through a simple interface. It gives users the tools to produce digital-first content that is standards-based, responsive, interactive and accessible.

"The VCS authoring tool turns any teacher into an online author. The simplicity of the system takes the focus off the technology and puts it back where it belongs--on the content," said Tischann Turner, Director of Learning Technology at Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. "It is a simple and elegant platform that provided our team of instructional designers with a means of creating and disseminating content quickly and simply with no time lost in learning a new system. With the VCS authoring tool, our team was able to rapidly develop a digital course that included text, multimedia and interactive questions. Then, share to any device for offline access via Bookshelf."

VCS makes it easy to create EPUB3 learning content that can be published directly into VitalSource's reading system, Bookshelf. Authors can create content from scratch as well as enhance existing EPUB files in order to re-mix or enrich content with multi-media and assessment items. In addition, VCS gives content creators the power to readily create interactive content that conforms to WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility standards.

"At VitalSource, we empower the academic community with tools and technology that enhance the learning experience and improve outcomes for students and educators alike," said Pep Carrera, COO, VitalSource. "We're proud to offer VCS as another tool for engaging learners through interactive digital content."

VitalSource will demonstrate and unveil VCS during IDPF Digicon in Chicago.
