Michael Hale, Ph.D.

Mike Hale has spent more than 35 years helping people learn better. For the past two decades, he’s been at VitalSource, where he now serves as Chief Learning Officer, leading global efforts to make learning more accessible, effective, and aligned with the real world. Before joining VitalSource, Mike dedicated 15 years to improving K-12 education, working as a high school teacher, college professor, and director of a successful charter school. He’s also the author of The Teacher’s Guide to Leading Student-Centered Discussions, a practical resource for educators. Mike holds a BA in Philosophy from Auburn and a MA and PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from UNC-Chapel Hill, but he’s just as likely to talk about good questions, better conversations, and how we can all keep learning.
