VitalSource has long been committed to increasing student success through easy access to affordable content. We also believe that if you can, you must improve learning for students and expand educational opportunities for all learners. Of course, we are not alone in this view and it is the reason many companies have built assessment-rich course materials.

Math Notation Adds Up

Not all educational content is created equal. Content used for learning anatomy requires lots of images and diagrams. Content used for learning to speak another language needs audio recordings. And math content usually requires math notation.

We understand what it takes to make all kinds of great digital content. And our content authoring tool, VitalSource Content Studio™, is designed to support whatever flavor of learning you aim to support—including mathematics.

In February 2017, we embedded the industry-leading WIRIS math editor into our authoring tool. This means our authors can now create complex math notation as MathML in their EPUB 3 files.

What’s more, all MathML content is paired with alt text that is automatically generated by the WIRIS editor (shown in yellow highlight below) for full screen reader support.
WIRIS editorGive VitalSource Content Studio a whirl and find out how easy it can be to make all kinds of great content for Bookshelf®, the world’s largest, most flexible, accessible, and widely read digital content platform.
